Thanks to all the people who requested its revival! Many of you asked for our vacation rental newsletter to see the light of day again. We are grateful for the kind words and look forward to its new beginnings.
History: The vacation rental newsletter started in 2016 under SmartHosts and was designed for smaller owners and managers, focusing on tech suppliers and industry changes. This rapidly grew to thousands of sign-ups. We were not so circumspect, however, and the site had a forum that soon became overwhelmed with adverts from suppliers. We then changed the format to a more formalised vacation rental newsletter titled “The Lighthouse”, distributed through substack. Unfortunately, COVID-19 intervened, and then our commercial challenges required addressing. The newsletter faded away, and we wrote for other media and companies.
Re-launching in November 2024
We have now sold our other businesses and restructured the consultancy direction. We will support this with a newsletter covering several topics and one fundamental article in each publication that covers the selected topic in depth and is relevant to all! We will publish this on Substack and be copied here too later.
“Making Money” is the first edition.
The first in-depth topic will be business metrics for small to medium-sized managers and the spend, the sieves, where the leakage and lethargy lie. Who will make it, and who won’t?
